The seventh largest city in the state of Minnesota is known as Plymouth. Plymouth is located just 15 miles west of the City of Minneapolis and is in Hennepin County. Plymouth is also the third-largest suburb of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area. The population of Plymouth is about 70,576 residents and has an area of 35 square miles. The climate of Plymouth consists of humid and hot midwestern summers, very cold winters, mild falls and warm springs. In addition to great weather, Plymouth has an incredibly rich history dating back to around 1400 to 1500 AD. The first people to settle on Plymouth Land were the Dakota Indians. English did not settle in this area until as late as 1855 when the first home was built. During the Dakota War of 1862 settlers in Plymouth had formed a small militia to fight the Native Americans. It was soon after the end of the war that the City of Plymouth took on a new structure, incorporating more homes, schools, and churches.
